The Indian Railways gives fare concession in various categories and you might well come under one such categorisation. Indian Railways passengers with disabilities, cancer, thalassemia, heart and kidney patients, war widows students, among others are eligible for concession for travelling in Mail / Express / Rajdhani /Shatabdi / Jan Shatabdi / Duronto group of trains.
The Indian Railways extends passenger fare concessions in as many as 53 categories, which include passengers with disabilities, cancer, thalassemia, heart and kidney patients, war widows students and others. The male passengers over 60 years can get 40 percent concession and women over 58 years of age can avail of a concession of 50 percent. The passengers have to carry an age proof for availing Senior Citizen concession. There is an option in the IRCTC website irctc.co.in, where  passengers can get the concession.

Senior Citizen can also book their tickets without availing the concession. Such passengers can select “Forgo Full Concession” in the Form. They can also partially avail the benefit.  Under “Option for Senior Citizen Concession”, passengers can select “Forgo 50% Concession” option.
For detailed concession information, the passengers should visit the IRCTC website. For availing the benefits in each category, a passenger has to possess proof to prove that he/she fulfills the critera. IRCTC is the e-ticketing service provider. The Indian Railways subsidiary in recent months brought in many changes in its services and introduced new features. These include launching of apps and revamping its website. Now by using the IRCTC app, a passenger can order a wide range of food. Besides that IRCTC has also introduced surge pricing for Indian Railways premium trains.
