Digital Health Card Apply Online: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission on September 27, 2021. The Prime Minister also said that this mission will provide a digital health ID to the people who will hold their health records. Incidentally, the pilot project of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission had been announced by the Prime Minister from the ramparts of Red Fort on August 15 last year. At present, the programme is being implemented in the pilot phase in six union territories.

Now, there is a common query in the minds of the people - how to apply online for the digital health ID card. One must note that anyone who wishes to participate in ABDM and have their health records available digitally must start by creating a Health ID. Health ID is a randomly generated 14-digit number used for the purposes of uniquely identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with their informed consent) across multiple systems and stakeholders.

For registration, one can get a Health ID by self-registration on the Health ID web portal or by downloading ABDM Health Records application from the Google Playstore, as per the National Health Authority website. An interested individual can also request for creation of your Health ID at a participating health facility, which may include public/private hospitals, community health centre, health and wellness centres across India.

One must note that for Health ID creation through Mobile Number- Name, Year of Birth, Gender, Address, Mobile Number. For Health ID creation through Aadhaar- Name, Year of Birth, Gender, Address, Mobile Number, Aadhaar Number.

According to the official website of National Health Authority, using a Health ID is the first step towards creating safer and efficient digital health records for a person and his or her family. One can opt-in to create a digitally secure Health ID, which allows the person to access and share the health data with his or her consent, with participating healthcare providers and payers.

Furthermore, one must remember that the process of generation of Health ID involves voluntary usage of Aadhaar. If one does not want to use your Aadhaar for Health ID creation, one can simply use your mobile number accompanied with self-declared information.
