Hichki box office collection: Rani Mukherji has come back after a long time to Bollywood and this return has not been bereft of rewards. Apart from getting back to work, the actress has seen her movie doing well in theatres after an initial hiccup. Hichki started with an occupancy of just 20 per cent in theatres, but this later changed as the evening and night shows came around. Notably, Hichki was not put up for morning shows. This was a strategic move on the part of the filmmakers as they may well have been aware the movie may not do well in those shows. Hichki collections have now been revealed at Rs 3.30 cr and with the weekend upon us, this is likely to increase and even translate into double digit figures. It may have much to do with the actress getting superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan to speak on their personal ‘Hichki’ moments. One thing that may prove a hurdle is the fact that Hichki is being screened on 961 screens in the desi market, which when compared to Hollywood release, Pacific Rim: Uprising is quite small. The foreign film has cornered 1200 screens in four languages.

Rani Mukherji's Hichki now depends on the kind of word of mouth boost that it may receive. If all goes well, then weekend collections will be quite substantial. In his reaction, trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted this tweet: "#Hichki settles and cements its status as Day 1 progresses... Records better occupancy post evening onwards... Sat and Sun expected to witness escalation in biz... Fri ₹ 3.30 cr [961 screens]. India biz."

In another tweet, Adarsh had this to say, "Unlike previous years, the first quarter of 2018 has brought hope, cheer and optimism... #Padmaavat, #PadMan, #SonuKeTituKiSweety, #Raid and #Hichki have brought our smiles back... #Baaghi2 should also open big... Well begun indeed!" He even had good words to say about the movie with a one word review: #OneWordReview... #Hichki: POWERFUL. Rating:- ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ A simple, straight-forward film that stays with you... Make time for it!"
