Announcing a major update, GVK Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has released a statement on the closure of RWY 09/27 commencing from 1st November 2019 up to 28th March 2020 for major rehabilitation and re-carpeting work of runway.

The statement by MIAL reads, “RWY 09/27 will not be available for aircraft operations  from 1st November 2019 up to 28th March 2020, 06 days of week, from Mondays to Saturdays between 09:30 Hrs IST to 17:30 Hrs IST, due to major rehabilitation and re-carpeting works. However, during closure of RWY 09/27, RWY 14/32 will be available for aircraft operations.

"RWY 09/27 will be available for operations on all Sundays and on the following dates due to closed holidays and festivals: 25/12/2019, 01/01/2020, 15/01/2020, 19/02/2020, 21/02/2020, 10/03/2020 and 25/03/2020,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, in yet another feat for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, the airport was conferred with the prestigious ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ Award by the Confederation of India Industry (CII) at its 20th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2019. Managed by GVK Mumbai International Airport Ltd, the award lauds MIAL’s tireless efforts in sustainable and green initiatives - particularly in assessing the trend of reduction in specific energy consumption, innovation in identifying and implementing energy saving projects, green supply chain, GHG and climate change initiatives. The award ceremony was held between 16-18th  September 2019 at Hyderabad.
