In this edition of #GSTMakeItEasy, Zee Business raises some issues related to Goods and Services Tax (GST) for small businesses. This indirect tax regime is dubbed as one of the biggest reforms in the country. While bringing the entire country under one tax structure, one of the objectives was to reduce the complexities of tax compliances. The GST has been able to make a good impact to some extent, but there are several pains points still present. These problems have been creating hurdles for many businesses.

#GSTMakeItEasy - This is Zee Business’ initiative to raise some of these issues with the concerned authorities. The channel has been discussing issues related to GST from Monday to Friday. The channel is running a hashtag #GSTMakeItEasy where people can share their issues. 

The purpose of this Zee Business campaign is to flag the issues with the concerned authorities so that these issues are discussed in the GST Council meetings and appropriate action is taken resolve these issues.

Khandelwal said that over 950 amendments have been made in the GST Act over the last four years. The system has still not become stable, he added. Under such circumstances, it will be very difficult for a small business to fulfil compliances. He said that the GST is a complicated taxation system under the existing structure.

The businesses are required to make changes in their software to implement the amendments on a regular basis, he further said.

His request to the government is to simplify tax structures, he said. He said that the government should also act against people who are acting against the spirit of the law. He lauded the GST saying that it is one of the best taxations systems.
