After successful roll-out of BHIM app, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now launched UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) to further boost Digital India.

UMANG is a mobile application which is developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD).

It provides a unified approach where citizens can install one application to avail somewhat 162 government services of 33 department and 4 states.

Together these department via UMANG, gives citizens an access of more than 1200 services of various government services from centre, state and utility services. Also, it supports 13 Indian languages and caters to on-demand scalability. 

This service has been made available on multiple channels like Google Play, Apple iTunes, web, IVR and SMS which can be accessed through smartphones, feature phones, tablets and desktops.

An Indian citizen can also get this app by giving missed call on 97183-97183. While to get download link on handset, they will have to enter their mobile number.

The government has appointed a dedicated customer support for user convenience from 8 am to 8 pm for all days of the week.

Further, this provides seamless integration with popular customer centric services like Aadhaar, Digilocker and PayGov. It also supports Aadhaar-based and other authentication mechanisms for service access.

Soon UMANG supporting on feature phones will be available without internet connectivity through USSD, Govt stated. 

Below mentioned are some of the services; UMANG provides to Indian citizen.

AICTE: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the statutory body under Ministry of Human Resource Development and is available on UMANG to provide services like – 1)list of AICTE approved institute or colleges, 2) course details for AICTE approved institute and 3) faculty details for AICTE approved colleges.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY): Citizens can apply as a candidate under PMKVY and view their application.

CBSE: All CBSE Students can locate the exam centers and view their exam results using this application in UMANG.

Aadhaar Card: You can view and download your Aadhaar card from Digilocker account. In case documents are not available then add your document from DigiLocker website.

Bharat BillPay: Now you can make payment of bills like GAS, Electricity, Water, DTH and telecom billers from this application which is made available on UMANG. An instant confirmation is generated for bill payments.

Bharat Gas: Consumers can avail various LPG related services like Book cylinder, make online payment for certain distributors, see refill history and requesting of double connection.

EPFO: This scheme assists the central board in monitoring the provident fund for the workforce engaged in the organised sector in India. The services offered in the app are generic search services and employee services.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) Network: GST payment and filing of returns related information can be accessed on UMANG.

Extensions Reforms: User can use this app to locate extension functionaries like agriculture technology manager, technology manger and farmer friend with respect to state, district, block and panchayat.

My Pan: Track PAN card status and make payment online. This app also provides services like PAN card application form 49A for individual, firm, etc.

Online Registration System (ORS): Under UMANG, it provides like hospitals across the country to enable citizens to book/cancel appointments and view lab and blood availability reports.

Apart from the above mentioned, many other services like – Pay Income Tax, Pensioners' portal, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY – U), Soil health card, Kisan Suvidha, HP gas, Farm mechanism, ePathshala and DigiSevak, etc are available on UMANG.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Minister for Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice, during UMANG's launch said, “Digital India seeks to realise this goal of inclusive development by using the tools of technology. The digital India vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new approach to achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.”
