Government will launch 'One Health' Pilot programme on June 28, Tuesday in Bengaluru according to a release by the Ministry of Animal Husbandry & Dairying.

"The initiative has been taken to bring stakeholders from animal, human and environment health on a common platform to address the challenges through One-Health approach." the PIB release stated.

Atul Chaturvedi, Secretary at the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying will launch the programme on Tuesday in the presence stakeholders from Centre and state level across livestock, human, wildlife, and environment sectors, the release said. 

"By developing the One Health Framework, India will successfully address the need for efficient disease reporting and response coordination, optimum utilization of resources, emergency preparedness, build capability to handle diseases of economic and zoonotic importance, and create

public awareness on animal diseases of zoonotic and economic significance." the release added.

DAHD collaborated with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as implementation partner in implementing the One-Health Framework undertaking project in the states of Karnataka and Uttarakhand.

Capacity building plan for Karnataka and One Health brochure (Kannada) will be unveiled during the event.

The Pilot project in Uttarakhand was launched in April. Earlier, at the launch in Uttarakhand, Atul Chaturvedi had said, “The ‘One Health India’ program initiated by the Department will work with stakeholders from various sectors to improve livestock health, human health, wildlife health, and environmental health through technology and finance."

"The pilot in Uttarakhand will support the creation of the One Health Framework for India and help build strong social infrastructure that supports the health of the people and the planet. We look forward to co-ordinated engagement among all stakeholders for the successful implementation of the pilot,” he had said.
