The scarcity of oxygen and hospital beds in times of need have added to the misery of the citizens.

The national capital has also been suffering from an acute shortage of oxygen in the hospitals. It has to be noted that the total daily quota of oxygen for the city is 590 tonnes. So far, the Indian Railways has delivered around 1,585 tonnes of LMO in 103 tankers to various states.

As per ANI, on Sunday, May 2, 2021, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal informed that Oxygen Express carrying 30.86 metric tonnes (MT) of LMO left from Odisha for Delhi. Delhi received its first supply of LMO on April 27, 2021. The Oxygen Express train carried 64.55 tonnes LMO from Jindal Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh.

As per the railways, twenty-seven Oxygen Express trains have already completed their journey and six more carrying around 463 tonnes of LMO in 33 tankers are on way to their destinations.
