After getting frequent complaints about parking facility and overcharging, the Raja Bhoj Airport aka Bhopal Airport has implemented a new parking policy from today. The airport said that the vehicles dropping or picking up visitors will not be charged. "Bhopal Airport will implement new car parking policy from 23.04.19. This means if you are booking a cab or taxi from app-based services like Ola or Uber, the vehicle will be charged Rs 40 as an access fee if it enters the airport for drop or pick up.

"As per AAI car parking policy, all the commercial vehicles going to pickup area in arrival side have to pay an access fee of Rs 40. Private vehicles are not charged with this access fee," the airport has said.

With the new parking fee in place, the minimum car parking charge now stands at Rs 20 for 0-30 minutes and the maximum is Rs 165 for seven hours to airport operational hours.

The Raja Bhoj Airport parking charges have been into an eye of the storm due to its arbitrary charges. The airport had received several complaints against the parking contractor in the past. The airport has a time-based parking fee system in place. However, visitors get trapped in jam in the pick and drop lane due to cars parked in the lane.

Earlier, the airport had assigned five minutes time for pick and drop vehicles. Now, it has been reduced to four minutes. "If any vehicle is found staying for more than 4 minutes in pick/drop lane, a penalty of four times of the 30 minutes-02 hours parking charge slab will be levied," said the airport.
