Waited for long at the railway station? Felt bored on board a train? If yes, then, now you can watch movies and other entertainment contents like music and videos by just scanning a barcode. Indian Railways is making preparations in this regard. The railways has prepared a digital wall to provide this facility to the passengers. Noteworthy, Indian Railways has been working to provide infotainment to its passengers. From free WiFi at railway stations to touch-screen display at the seats of trains like Tejas, the railway's priority has been to provide commuters with entertainment contents. The railways will be putting up posters with bar codes at stations and in trains as well.

The digital wall will help the railways prepare the QR code system. The railways will put up posters with bar codes at prominent positions at the stations and in train coaches as well. Once a passenger will scan this code, the railways' digital wall will open and the user will be given options like train related query, history of railway, short film, videos and more. On selecting an option, the user will be able to access the detail or content as desired by him and available on the platform.

The railways is also planning to install LED screens at 22 prominent railway stations. These will also have infotainment contents and passengers will get these services for free. It will also provide information like on which platform their train is arriving and the positions of the coach at the platform among others.

It's notable that recently IRCTC has also taken a new initiative to offer unmatched digital reading experience to its 6.6 crores plus users and visitors on its portal www.irctc.co.in. For this, IRCTC has partnered with Magzter, the World’s largest digital magazine newsstand.
