In a bid to provide relief to passengers, Indian Railways has announced the removal of flexi fare from the premium train Humsafar Express, besides adding a sleeper coach with this train. The Railway Ministry stated that the existing dynamic fair system has been removed from Humsafar class trains. Now, the fixed fare system will be applicable for these trains and passengers will be spared from paying increased fares.

According Railways Ministry, the relief will be applicable for 35 pairs of Humsafar class trains, of which there are only air-conditioned (AC) Tier-3 coaches. Earlier, the Railways has offered 25 percent discount on AC chair car and on the berths in executive class of some trains.

Fares of Shatabdi, Gatiman, Tejas, double decker trains reduced

The trains in which Railways gave 25 percent discount on AC chaircars include Shatabdi, Gatiman, Tejas, Double Decker and Intercity trains. The national transporter has also announced a number of exemptions in the freight sector. The fares of Tatkal ticket for Humsafar train have also been reduced. Now, the railways will charge 1.3 times of the base fare, while it was earlier charged 1.5 times of the original fare.

This means that Tatkal fare in Humsafar trains has been brought equivalent to the Normal Tatkal Rule of other Mail/Express trains (Humsafar base fare + Normal Class wise Tatkal charges).

Number of coaches increased

Railways has also announced that after the first chart is made, 10% discount will be given on the base fair for tickets sold under current booking, and other supplementary charges will be the same like all other trains. The ministry added that four coaches have already been added to the Anand Vihar-Allahabad Humsafar Express.

According to the ministry, other charges like reservation fee, superfast surcharge, GST etc., as applicable shall be levied separately, and catering will also be optional.
