Bar Council of Delhi has announced a financial assistance of Rs 5000 for lawyers in "extreme" financial crisis and practicing in the Delhi/NCR region amid a nationwide lockdown because of the coronavirus disease.

"In such an unprecedented crisis being faced by the Advocates in Delhi/NCR, it is resolved that 'indigent and disable Committee of Bar Council of Delhi'  is authorised to consider request for grant of financial assistance, in genuine and bonafide cases of advocates  with Rs.5,000/- per Advocate and if the information furnished by extreme needy advocate found false information then Bar Council will treat the same as misconduct of an advocate" the resolution reads.

The request in the following format, may be submitted on the Bar Council of Delhi through email till 14 April 2020.

Eligibility criteria: That only those advocate/applicant will be entitled to get financial assistance

-- Who is residing in rented accomodation and has to furnish rent agreement or his self attested affidavit in this regard

-- Who is member of Bar Association of  Supreme Court/High Court/District Courts/ Tribunals at Delhi uninterruptedly

-- Advocates/applicants required to pass All India Bar Examination (AIBE) mandatorily must enclose/refer passing acknowledgement
