Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting of NITI Aayog asking the institution that its vision for the future should be oriented towards good governance and commitment to better lives of Indian citizens.

PM Modi had called upon NITI Aayog meet to create a vision document that will chart a roadmap for India's development for the next 15 years. It was attended by NITI Aayog vice-chairman Arvind Panagariya and other members.

PM Modi touched upon several issues during his interaction with NITI Aayog members such as agriculture, technology, human resources, tourism, among others.

The prime minister during the meet advised the government's think tank to make optimal use of the country's existing institutions and resources in order to benefit maximum number of citizens.

 "Optimal utilisation of India's existing resources should be the way forward for charting out a growth strategy for India," NITI Aayog said on Twitter quoting PM Modi as saying.

 

 

Laying out the broad contours of India’s development path, PM Modi said in release on Press Information Bureau of India (PIB), "Judicious and intelligent application of India’s natural resources and human resources, would be at the heart of this change." 

NITI should lead the way forward in fostering innovative, out of the box, thinking for the development of India,  NITI Aayog tweeted the prime minister as saying.

On the human resource development, PM Modi said in a PIB release that focused skill development is vital as the country has the potential to fulfil the global requirement of human resources in the future.

NITI Aayog tweeted PM Modi as saying, "Developing sectors like tourism are key to creating large number of low skilled jobs for the underprivileged in India."

On the agriculture sector, PM Modi in a PIB release said that focus should not be on increasing agricultural output alone but on the overall development of a vibrant rural economy and incorporating technology into agriculture sector.

"Need technological innovation in agriculture that'll bring about a revolution, pull millions out of poverty," NITI Aayog further tweeted quoting PM Modi as saying. 

He emphasised the importance of the food processing sector, warehouse development, and technology inputs, in agriculture sector, according to PIB statement. 

Stressing on the need to build capacities for good governance, he highlighted the importance of real-time data availability, it noted.

"Technology driven governance that will ensure speed, transparency & accountability is the need of the hour for India," NITI Aayog tweeted the prime minister as saying.

 

 

On vision to the country's future, NITI Aayog tweeted PM Modi as saying, "Our Vision for the future should be oriented towards good governance, commitment to better lives of Indian citizens." 

NITI Aayog further said PM Modi as saying, "India cannot wait for incremental change. We need transformational change and that comes only with drastic policy reform." 

At the end of the meet, PM Modi showed the confidence NITI Aayog stating its working in the right direction towards creating the vision document for India. "I am sure team NITI Aayog is working in the right direction towards creating the Vision Document for India," NITI Aayog tweeted PM Modia as saying.
