Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway is consists of around half the section of newly constructed ring road which includes both Eastern and Western Peripheral expressway.

The National Capital's 4th Ring Road is around 270-km long and divided into two sections - Eastern Peripheral Expressway of 135 km (in operation since May 2018) and the Western Peripheral Expressway of 135 km with links to NH-1 (Panipat to Delhi), SH-57 (Sultanpur-Delhi Highway), NH-58 (Merut-Delhi Road), NH-24 (Hapur-Dasna-Delhi Road), NH-91 (Aligarh-Delhi Road), Kasna-Sikandra-Delhi Road, NH-2 (Agra-Delhi Road) and NH-1 (Panipat to Delhi), NH-8 (Jaipur Gurugram-Delhi Road), NH-10 (Hisar-Rohtak-Delhi Road) respectively.

This Ring Road was proposed with an aim to reduce traffic in Delhi NCR and was expected to be completed in the year 2010 but due to certain issues, such as land acquisition, legal complications and delays by the contractor, the project couldn't be completed on time.

The project was later handed to Haryana Government in 2016 which completed the work before the deadline, as per a report by Hindustan Times.

The ring road is expected to reduce Delhi's traffic. The newly inaugurated project is expected to further decongest Delhi's roads by diverting up to 50,000 vehicles out of the Capital per day. As far as Delhi's air pollution is concerned, it will be a significant step in reducing air pollution.
