There have been a lot of rumours going around about the demonetisation move of PM Narendra Modi and the government sought to put them to rest with a series of tweets on Wednesday night.

The rumours that have been passed around social media platforms included notices that the PM would announce the demonetisation of Rs 50 and Rs 100 which the government has regarded as ‘baseless.’

Other rumours were about scams involving in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wherein it was said that information was leaked to select corporate houses and party members in advance. 

The government has said that complete secrecy was maintained and there was no leakage of any information.

Myths involving the presence of a chip in the Rs 2,000 note were deemed as baseless and untrue even by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and further clarified by the government.
