Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has added over one crore workers in its first enrollment campaign which started on January 1, data showed.

The provident fund body, EPFO enrolled 1.01 crore workers in Employees’ Enrolment Campaign which concluded on June 30. In the last six months, the official numbers showed that the subscriber base rose from 3.8 crore to 4.81 crore. 

The campaign had provided an opportunity to companies or employers to declare the details of employees who were eligible of PF membership between April 2009 and December 2016 but failed to enrolled for PF for any reason. 

As per the data, Gujarat has enrolled highest number of subscribers at 9,18,251. Second in the list was Delhi and Uttarakhand (Both the regions are clubbed as one zone by EPFO) at 8,81,846 subscribers. Third was Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) with 8,54,549 subscribers followed by Mumbai (Mumbai is divided into two zones) with subscriber base of 7,27,945 enrollments.  The total enrollment all over India was 1.01 crore. 

EPFO figures have questioned the employment data revealed by NITI Aayog. As per a report by Mint, India's Census 2011, estimated 40.2 crore of workforce. While, Labour Ministry data as of 2016 showed 47.5 crore of labour market in the country.
