EPFO subscribers nowadays do not hesitate to turn to the website to go through the EPF withdrawal process, check EPF balance or carry out some other transaction that has to do with their money. However, these innocent subscribers should know that there are fraudsters out to cheat them! EPFO has been warning against fake websites that are flashing wrong information about EPFO from fake URLs. The attempt by these fake URLs is to extract personal information of the account holders.

The Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) under the aegis of Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India (GoI) has issued alerts to all the members and establishments that are registered with it, to beware of fake websites that are being disguised as the EPFO website.

https://www.epfindia.gov.in/site_en/index.php. The official website of EPFO is http://www.epfindia.gov.in, the alert message on its website says.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has also warned people and the establishments registered with it to be aware of fake calls, instructing them not to take any such calls or divulge any sensitive information. It said that EPFO never calls any user or subscriber to deposit any amount in any bank.

The warnings have come amid several instances of impersonations of the official EPFO website.

One such instance was when a message about Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) offering benefits worth Rs 80,000 was doing the rounds on social media. “The workers who worked between the 1990 and 2019, have the rights to get the benefits of ₹80 000 by EPFO of INDIA. Check if your name is in the list of the people who have the rights to withdraw this benefit: https://socialdraw.top/epf”, the message said.

So, whatever you do, do not log onto ta fake EPFO website and do not entertain any calls regarding your EPF account.
