Earthquake in Kashmir: Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir was shaken by a quake today on Monday morning. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) revealed measured the earthquake at 3.5 magnitude on the Richter scale. The earthquake in Bandipora took place at 10:58 am and that too at a depth of around 5 km. No injury to anyone has been reported so far.

The light intensity earthquake in Kashmir caused no casualty or damage to property, the authorities confirmed. The earthquake measured 3.5 on the Richter scale and it`s epicentre was in Bandipora region of Kashmir, a Disaster Management official said. "Time of occurrence was 10.58 a.m. The depth was at 5 km inside the earth`s crust. It`s epicentre was in Bandipora region in the Valley," the official said.

Kashmir valley is situated in an earthquake prone region where past temblors have wrought havoc. Over 85,000 people died in a Kashmir earthquake that occurred on October 8, 2005. It had measured 7.6 on the Richter scale.
