Earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR region late on Monday. Tremors were also felt in Delhi and parts of the national capital region (NCR), according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

NCS has informed that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter Scale hit Southern Xinjiang, China today at 11.39 pm.

As per the National Center for Seismology — which is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country — the earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred on January 22 at 11:39 pm IST, in the Southern Xinjiang region of China. 

The tremors were centred at latitude 40.96 and longitude 78.30, and located at a depth of 80 Kms.

News agency PTI also tweeted: "Tremors felt in Delhi and its adjoining areas."
