According to an ANI report, the Centre will launch the e-SHRAM portal today at 3.30 PM. Yesterday, the Ministry of Labour tweeted from its official Twitter handle, "After 7 decades of Independence, e-SHRAM portal, a National Database of Unorganized Workers, will be launched on 26th August, 2021 for the overall welfare of all the Unorganized Workers of the country. Only 1 day to go for the launch."

 

The unorganised workers will get a new identity with the new e-SHRAM identity cards that will be issued to them, and which will be valid across the country. The Ministry of Labour also informed about this e-SHRAM identity card from its official Twitter handle. The tweet said, "e-SHRAM card will give a new identity to crores of Unorganized Workers of the Nation. The e-SHRAM card will be valid across the country."

 

In another tweet, the Ministry of Labour has informed that the portal will link all the unorganised workers to the social security schemes. The tweet said, "e-SHRAM Portal, to be launched on 26 Aug 2021, will cover all Unorganized Workers of the Nation to link them with various Social Security schemes."

 

The categories of unorganised workers that will be covered are as follows:

1) Construction workers

2) Migrant workers

3) Gig and platform workers

4) Street vendors

5) Domestic workers

6) Agriculture workers

7) Other unorganised workers

Bhupender Yadav, Minister for Labour and Employment had unveiled the logo of e-SHRAM portal on August 24, 2021. ANI reported that at the logo launch event, the Labour Minister said, "Targeted identification of the unorganised workers was a much-needed step and the portal which will be the national database of our nation builders, our Shram yogis, will help take welfare schemes to their doorstep, who are the builders of the nation."
