SBI Doorstep Banking: In a bid to contain Coronavirus spread in India, the Government of India (GoI) has announced 21 days lockdown till 14th April 2020. During this period, only essential services will remain available for us and banking is one of those essential services. In this period, one won't be able to go outside as maintain social distance will get hampered by this act. So, one won't be able to go outside for fishing out money from the ATM, which is leading to a cash crisis among the bank customers as it is around 10 days since the implementation of the lockdown. But, SBI customers need not worry about this cash crisis. SBI doorstep banking service is there to solve the cash crisis of its customers. The State Bank of India or SBI has SBI doorstep banking service for its senior citizens and specially-abled 'divyang'.

After the announcement of the lockdown SBI in a tweet said, "Our staff from Nagaon branch made sure that customers experience seamless banking service by providing them door-step cash facility. We shall fight this pandemic together." In another tweet, SBI said, "SBI staff at Gurmur branch, Majauli, Assam arranged the payment of pension at the doorstep of Pensioners  so as avoid their travel to branch in these extraordinary circumstances." So, SBI customers eligible for the SBI doorstep banking services can avail of this service and unlock the cash crisis during Coronavirus lockdown.

Here are complete details of the SBI Doorstep Service that an SBI customer must know:

1] SBI Doorstep banking service includes cash pickup, cash delivery, cheque pickup, cheque requisition slip pickup, form 15H pickup, delivery of drafts, delivery of term deposit advice, life certificate pickup and KYC documents pickup.

2] SBI doorstep service request can be made at the SBI customer care toll-free number 1800111103 between 9 am to 4 pm on working days at the center.

3] The SBI doorstep banking service request for registration is done at the home branch.

4)] SBI doorstep banking service is available to only fully KYC-compliant customers.

5] SBI doorstep Service charges per visit for non-financial transactions is Rs 60+GST and Rs 100+GST for financial transactions

6] The amount of cash withdrawal and cash deposit is restricted to Rs 20,000/-per transaction per day.

7] SBI account holders with a valid registered mobile number within a 5 Km radius of their home branch will be able to avail of these services.

8] SBI accounts that are operated jointly will not be able to avail of these services.

9) SBI doorstep service will also be unavailable for a minor account and accounts of non- personal nature.

10) Cash withdrawal will be permitted using cheque/withdrawal form with a passbook.

Apart from SBI, some other banks are also providing doorstep banking services to its customers. Customers of HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank can also avail of doorstep banking services as these banks are also providing doorstep banking facility to their customers.

Remember, while asking for the doorstep banking service, the bank will not ask your confidential details like ban account number, PAN Card or Aadhaar Card number, ATM number or CVV number printed on your ATM or credit card. So, feel free to call your bank asking for the doorstep banking service as its safe from the online economic fraudsters as well. Customers of these banks need to contact their bank through customer care number and as for the doorstep service from them.
