The order stated that schools would be closed until Friday, November 10, and also mentioned that the students would attend classes in online mode.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi-NCR has plummeted to 'severe' category by crossing the 400 barrier. Given the gravity of the situation and to control the poor air quality, the Air Quality Management Commission has implemented the Graded Responses Action Plan Stage IV.

According to this plan, the District Magistrate has ordered the discontinuation of physical classes from pre-school to class 9.
