Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has approved the doorstep delivery of government services.

Once this scheme comes to force, Delhiites will be able to avail the services of government departments at their doorsteps.

As per media reports, the scheme will be rolled out in another two months. This will allow the Delhi residents to get important works involving government departments done by a third party at their home.

In an official statement, Delhi LG Baijal said the scheme was cleared after Kejriwal “assured that the Government will simultaneously work to plug the gaps in the digital delivery of services from the ‘application’ to the ‘delivery’ stage” in the prevailing online system.

In the first phase, the home delivery facility will be provided for 40 services across eight government departments, as per the reports.

The services like getting caste certificates, registration of marriage, and birth and death certificates, driving licence, transfer of ownership of vehicles, old age pension scheme and new water or sewer connection will come inside the circumference of the scheme.

To avail the benefits of the scheme, one will have to call on the government’s helpline number and then a ‘mobile sahayak’ (facilitator) will be assigned to that particular person.

However, city residents will still have to make their way to offices in cases where physical presence is necessary, such as a driving test, as reported by Financial Express.
