Delhi Traffic Advisory, Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra in Delhi, Christmas Traffic Advisory: Commuters in Delhi faced a torrid time on Saturday morning as traffic was severely affected in parts of the capital as the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by party leader Rahul Gandhi, entered the city. The Congress party scion was joined by former party chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra and Robert Vadra as party's pan-India juggernaut arrived in Delhi.

The Delhi Traffic Police had already issued an advisory on Friday cautioning commuters about the routes that were likely to be affected by Delhi leg of Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi will make its morning halt at Delhi's busy Ashram Chowk at 11 am and will resume at 1 PM.

Authorities expext major traffic snarls in parts of central Delhi later on Saturday when the yatra heads towards the Red Fort via the Mathura road, India Gate and ITO.

The traffic advisory stated that the rally will reach Jai Dev Ashram near Ashram Chowk around 10.30 am and will end at the Red Fort around 4.30 pm.

Delhi Traffic Police expects a large number of pedestrians and vehicles to join the yatra at various points along the route in the capital.

Due to the yatra, traffic is expected to remain heavy from the Badarpur Border to Red Fort. Commuters are requested to cooperate by avoiding or bypassing the affected roads and make maximum use of public transport to ensure a pleasant journey, the advisory had said.

The Yatra which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7 has covered nine states so far and is set to culminate in Jammu and Kashmir by the end of January.

The Yatra is on its 108th day and has covered around 3,000 kms in 46 districts across nine states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telengana, Andra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana.

The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory and cautioned commuters about routes that will be affected by the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra after it enters the national capital on Saturday.

The Rahul Gandhi-led yatra will enter Delhi from the Badarpur border in southeast Delhi at 6.30 am on Saturday and conclude at Red Fort via Ashram Chowk, covering a distance of 23 kilometres, according to the police advisory.

The yatra will reach Jai Dev Ashram near Ashram Chowk around 10.30 am and will end at Red Fort around 4.30 pm, it said.

A large number of pedestrians and vehicles are expected to join the yatra at various points along the route, it said.

During the yatra, Badarpur flyover, Mitha Pur Chowk, Prahlad Pur Red Light, MB Road, Apollo flyover, Mathura Road, Mathura Road, Okhla Mod red light, Modi Mill flyover, NFC Red Light, Ashram Chowk, Mool Chand, Andrews Ganj, AIIMS, will be affected, it said.

Captain Gaur Marg, Dayal Singh College, Nizamuddin flyover, Safdarjung Madarsa, Pragati Maidan tunnel exiting towards IP Flyover, Mathura Road/Bhairon Road T-Point, Subramaniam Bharti Marg/Zakir Hussain Marg crossing, Mandi House, Turkman Gate, Rajghat Chowk, etc. Roads and points will also be affected, it stated.

Traffic is expected to remain heavy from Badarpur Border to Red Fort. Commuters are requested to cooperate by avoiding or bypassing the affected roads and make maximum use of public transport to ensure a pleasant journey, the advisory said.

There will be graded and dynamic diversions to ensure smooth traffic management and facilitate commuters while ensuring safety of pedestrians on roads, it said.

People travelling towards ISBT, railway stations and airports are advised to carefully plan their travel with sufficient time, the advisory added.

It entered Haryana from Rajasthan on Wednesday.

A mass contact initiative of the Congress, the yatra began from Kanyakumari on September 7 and has covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan till now.

Delhi Police Traffic Advisory for Christmas: Church Routes, Timings, Diversion

Christmas and New Year celebrations lead to traffic snarls on Delhi's roads every year. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi Police has issued traffic advisory ahead of the Christmas celebrations in the national capital and informed people of diversions.

As per the Delhi Police traffic advisory, churches such as Sacred Heart Cathedral at Gol Dak Khana, Nirmal Hriday Church at Majnu Ka Tila, Free Church at 10 Sansad Marg, Saint Mariam Church at Burari, Methodist Church Lodhi Road, Christ Methodist Church near St. Stephen Hospital, St. James Church at Kashmiri Gate, Church of God at Hauz Khas, St. Francis Church at Tahirpur, Emmanuel Baptist Church at Civil Lines are expecting large crowds of devotees during the Christmas Day celebrations from Saturday evening till Sunday.

Heavy traffic is likely to be witnessed near Gok Dak Khana, Rajpura Road, Ring Road Near Majnu Ka Tila, Lodhi Road, Sansad Marg, Lothian Road, Ashoka Road (Gol Dak Khana to Windsor Place), Africa Avenue Road, Burari Road, Patel Chowk, Butler Road Aurobindo Marg, DBG Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Church Road, it stated.

The traffic diversion will take place from roundabout RML going towards Gol Dak Khana, from Bhai Veer Singh Marg/Kali Bari T point going towards Gol Dak Khana, from Patel Chowk on Ashoka Road going towards Gol Dak Khana, from Outer circle Connaught Place going towards Gok Dak Khana on Baba Kharak Singh Marg, the advisory said.

It further stated that vehicles should be parked in single lanes at Pandit Pant Marg, Dr Bishamber Das Marg, North Avenue Road, Talkatora Road, Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Road and Church Road.
