Delhi curfew, lockdown news today: Amid an exponential rise in coronavirus cases, Delhi is likely to be under curfew from Monday night till April 26 morning, according to a report from the news agency ANI. The official announcement is likely to be made later in the day.

The official sources told IANS that the decision was taken at a meeting held between Lt Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi is likely to be under curfew for seven days. Announcement expected shortly, the news agency wrote from its Twitter account.

Delhi registered 25,462 new cases and 161 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health bulletin issued on Sunday. Daily positivity rate was 29.74 per cent, while the active cases in the city stand at 74,941, of which 34,938 are in home isolation, the IANS reported.
Amid continuing surge and the number of beds running out while supplies of oxygen and other medical facilities dipped, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, terming the situation at a critical stage, dialled Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking help.

Meanwhile, India has reported 2,73,810 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike ever, pushing the country's overall Covid tally to 1.5 crore, according to the Health Ministry data released on Monday.

As per IANS, This is the fifth consecutive day that the country has registered over two lakh Covid cases taking the total tally to 1,50,61,919 cases. India on Sunday recorded 2,61,500 new cases, 2,34,692 cases on Saturday, 2,00,739 and 2,17,353 cases on Thursday and Friday respectively.
