Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh has tested positive with COVID-19. On Monday, the Union minister took on his official Twitter handle to inform that he has been tested positive with COVID-19 and requested to isolate all those who came in contact with him recently.

Singh tweeted from his official Twitter handle, "I have tested positive for Corona today with mild symptoms. I am under home quarantine. I request everyone who have recently come in my contact to isolate themselves and get tested."

 

In other COVID-19 related news, it must be noted that  India has begun administering booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to frontline workers and vulnerable elderly people from Monday. Only healthcare personnel, frontline workers and people above 60 years suffering from other health conditions are eligible for what the government calls a "precaution dose".

India recorded 1,79,723 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, as per the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). Furthermore, 46,569 recoveries have been recorded in the last 24 hours increases taking the total number of recoveries to 3,45,00,172.

Also, 151.94 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, as per the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

As on Monday 4,033 Omicron variant cases have been reported in India as per the press release from the MoHFW.

In order to contain to spread of the disease, several states have imposed certain restrictions.
