Nissan has announced the price of Datsun redi-GO on Tuesday.

The company is ready for the battle with market leader Maruti Suzuki and its largest selling model--Alto. 

Priced at Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for its base model putting, the car will be available in five different variants with the top-of-the-line model priced at a maximum of Rs 3.34 lakh.

This puts the redi-Go's ahead of the Maruti Suzuki's Alto 800 which is price higher at Rs 2.44 lakh and goes upto Rs 3.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

'redi-Go' will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai's Eon, which are priced between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 4.42 lakh (ex-showroom price Delhi). The Hyundai Eon base model price is Rs 3.8 lakh.

The company claims the car has a fuel efficiency of 25kmpl on the redi-GO.

This is higher than Alto which gives the company claims gives a mileage of 24.7kmpl and Hyundai Eon which is at 21.1kmpl.  

It is the Nissan's third vehicle under the Datsun brand after the GO and GO+ in India. However, the company has not seen much success in terms of sales for these two cars.

This makes it the second most affordable car after the Tata Nano with is priced at Rs 2.1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and goes upto Rs 3.03 lakh.

Earlier, Nissan was expected to price redi-GO between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh.

The car will be powered by Renault Kwid's 799cc three-cylinder engine.
