Dabangg 3 box office collection day 3: This Salman Khan movie would have easily earned over Rs 100 crore in the first three days of its release. However, that did not happen. Reason behind this that the business has been affected due to the ongoing protests. Even then, as it turned out, Dabangg 3 collection finished the opening weekend at a little over Rs 80 crore. What made this amount possible was the jump in its collection on Sunday. In fact, the movie was successful in pulling fans to theatres despite the unrest in several parts of the country. The film had released to Rs 24.50 crore opening on Friday and its box office collection now stands at Rs 81.15 crore.

The jump in collections and a decent opening weekend can be attributed to the stardom of Salman Khan, believes movie critic, business analyst and influencer Taran Adarsh. "#Dabangg3 - despite protests affecting its biz severely - packs ₹ 80 cr+ in its *opening weekend*, primarily due to the superstardom of #SalmanKhan... Fri 24.50 cr, Sat 24.75 cr, Sun 31.90 cr. Total: ₹ 81.15 cr. #India biz. Note: All versions," he tweeted on Monday morning.

Adarsh added that Dabangg 3 lost around Rs 12 crore due to protests and faces an important week ahead with Wednesday set to be a holiday due to Christmas. There is no doubt that the film will start picking up from Tuesday evening and should be able to mint good amount on Wednesday. But, its success will depend on how it fares on other weekdays.

"#Dabangg3 partially regains lost ground on Day 3... Biz jumps across circuits... Loses a big chunk of *opening weekend* biz [approx ₹ 12 cr] due to protests... Day 4 [Mon] crucial... #Christmas celebrations [Tue evening onwards and Wed] should boost biz...," Adarsh said, in another tweet.

Meanwhile, last week's Mardaani 2 managed to put decent numbers on Sunday despite protests and reduction of screens due to Dabangg 3. Its overall collection now stands at Rs 33.70 crore.

"#Mardaani2 puts up decent numbers on [second] Sat and Sun... Biz affected by protests + reduction of screens and shows [due to #Dabangg3]... [Week 2] Fri 1.15 cr, Sat 1.95 cr, Sun 2.55 cr. Total: ₹ 33.70 cr. #India biz," Adarsh tweeted. Mardaani 2 marks the return of Rani Mukerji to the big screen.
