Dearness Allowance: Some reports have been claiming that the government has increased the Dearness Allowance from 34% to 38% and the additional installment of DA will be effective from July 1, 2022. These reports even claimed that the central government employees will get the DA money by the end of this month i.e. September. The copy of the order going viral on social media carried the signature of Nirmala Dev - Deputy Secretary to the Government of India. However, the fact-checking wing of the Public Information Bureau (PIB) has now stated that no such order was issued by the Ministry of Finance.

The PIB Fact Check team said that the letter is being circulated on WhatsApp.

Sharing a picture of the 'fake order', the PIB Fact Check team said, "A fake order circulating on WhatsApp is claiming that the additional installment of Dearness Allowance will be effective from July 1, 2022.

"Department of Expenditure, @FinMinIndia has not issued any such order," the tweet reads.

The copy of the order that went viral on WhatsApp had a subject line - "Grant of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees - Revised Rates effective from 1.7.2022."

"The undersigned is directed to refer to this Ministry's Office Memorandum No 1/1/2022-E-16 (B) dated 28th February, 2022 on the subject mentioned above and to say the President is pleased to decide that the Dearness Allowance payable to Central Government employees shall be enhanced from the existing rate of 34% to 38% of the basic pay with effect from 1st July, 2022." the letter circulated on WhatsApp reads.

It is worth mentioning that the government revises the Dearness Allowance twice every year. The first one is done in January and the second in July. The Central government had increased the DA by 3% in January 2022. With this, the DA went up to 34% of basic.
