According to an ANI report, on Wednesday, Apollo Hospitals released the result of the multicenter study of health workers across the country. This study has been conducted over a period of four months from January 16, 2021, to May 30, 2021. Incidentally, the nationwide vaccination drive commenced in the country from January 16, 2021, with Covishield and Covaxin. This study referred to here, covered 31,621 health workers who had been completely vaccinated or have received one dose of either Covishield or Covaxin.

In this regard, Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Founder Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group said, "Vaccines are not only safe, but they also help prevent severe manifestations of COVID-19 and will help save lives." He further added that this study conducted across the country put forward a compelling case for the citizens above 18 years of age that they must come forward and get vaccinated.

Dr. V K Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog and Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences have addressed various doubts people have regarding COVID-19 vaccines on June 6, 2021, at DD News where this issue of vaccination was also addressed.

Dr. Guleria further noted that according to available data, the efficacy of all the vaccines available in India, that is, Covaxin, Covishield and Sputnik V, are more or less the same. He said, "We should not hence say take this vaccine or that vaccine, whichever vaccine is available in your area, please go ahead and get yourself vaccinated so that you and your family are safe."

Coming back to the post-vaccination infection study conducted by Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Reddy said that the main conclusion from the study is that the post vaccination infections are usually minor, and vaccination helps to prevent severe infection, ICU and death.

He further highlighted the fact with greater availability of vaccines in the coming weeks, the number of vaccines administered each day should be increased and the aim should be to vaccinate five million people per day.
