COVID-19 3rd Wave Effect: The third wave of COVID-19 pandemic is at the doorsteps of Mumbai. As the experts were cautioning, the impact is the biggest among children and young people this time.

Zee Business reporter Ekta Suri reported that of 10.8 per cent of the total COVID-19 positive cases in Mumbai, 5.6 per cent accounts for children and youth under the age of 19.

Suri's report further stated that COVID-19 has been spreading among children and youth since March. In June, 13 per cent of children and young people were affected by the infection.  Though Maharashtra is unlocking but the fear of the third wave of festive season spreading on the other.

It has to be noted that from August 21 to August 28, as many as 247 children and youth under the age of 19 have been affected by coronavirus in Mumbai and out of them 65 children are less than 9 years old. In the first 20 days of August, 508 out of 8041 corona cases, or 9.2 percent, are children and young people who have been tested positive with coronavirus.

According to Census, 29 per cent of Mumbai's population is less than 19 years old. The virus is spreading rapidly among this age group.

Speaking of the COVID-19 situation in the country, as per data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), INdia reported 30,941 new cases in the last 24 hours.
