There is good news for government employees who have taken Covdi 19 shot or are planning to take their first dose of coronavirus vaccine. As per government norms vaccination has been made free at government run facilities, however, due to many reasons, including rush at these medical facilities, the government employees have to take vaccination from private hospitals.

In such cases, it has been decided that these employees, who are insured by United India Insurance Corporation Limited, will be reimbursed Covid 19 vaccination cost.

"As a responsible Public sector institution, apart from spreading message of necessity of vaccination among the insuring public, it has been decided and approved by the competent authority, to reimburse cost of vaccination up to a maximum of Rs 250 per employee, per doze subject to production of original receipt," said a statement by the United India Insurance Corporation Limited. 

It further said that all employees are advised to use government facilities and in case who are unable to use the government facility may go to private hospital for vaccination. The in-charges of operating offices are given authority to settle such bills for reimbursement, it said.  

Currently, under the second phase of vaccination drive across the country, it has been now announced to provide vaccination to the people who have crossed the age of 60 years and those over the age of 45 years with certain identified co-morbidities.
