The Union home ministry has asked states and UTs to follow the advisory of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), released on April 25, 2021.

The MoHFW had asked the states and UTs to identify districts where either test positivity had been over 10 per cent or more in the last one week; or, where bed occupancy was over 60 per cent.

It further asked, the districts fulfilling any of the above two criteria should be considered for taking intensive and local containment measures.

The implementation framework for community and large containment areas, as advised by MoHFW, has also been enclosed with the union home ministry order. In addition, the National Directives for COVID-19 Management shall continue to be strictly followed throughout the country.

India on Thursday reported around 3.8 lakh covid-19 cases and near 3800 deaths in one day, this is one of the highest single-day surges anywhere in the world. To break this chain of infection, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a Cabinet Meeting today at around 11:00 am, as sources said to Zee News.

It's expected that the Prime Minister along with top Union Cabinet ministers to take some tough decisions to contain the pandemic from spreading further, sources also inform. The meeting of the Union Council of Ministers will be held via video conference.

"They discussed various initiatives being taken by the Army to help in Covid management," the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.

PM Modi also chaired a meeting with top officials to review the Covid-19 situation in the country during which he was given an overview of the situation in the country relating to oxygen availability, medicines, health infrastructure, etc.
