In most of the households, often more than one thermometer or oximeter are not available. As per a report by the Bengali daily, Anandabazar Patrika, time and again physicians have reminded of the fact that no one should use the objects used by a COVID-19 positive patient. However, as in most of the households only one thermometer or oximeter is available, it is also not permissible to anyone from a COVID-19 affected to buy these instruments from a medicine shop. In that case, the physicians are of the opinion that if these instruments are used by some other person after proper sanitisation then there is no reason to worry.

It must be noted that though these instruments can be used by others after proper sanitisation, it must be ensured that the thermometer is not put in the mouth of a COVID-19 positive patient. In order to sanitise these instruments after being used by the COVID-19 patient, these instruments should be cleansed properly using cotton dipped in sanitiser. After that, the instruments should be left in an open space for some time. The person sanitising the instruments must wear double masks during the process. Wearing mask is also a necessity while using the instruments. The instruments should also be sanitised properly after use.
