The third phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive begins from May 1. The enrolment for the vaccination is set to start from today, April 28, 2021. The central government earlier this month has made eligible everyone above 18 years of age to get vaccinated.

Rapid covid cases surge in the country is the major reason the government has allowed everyone above 18 years of age to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus. which has created havoc across India with many states facing a shortage of beds, ventilators and oxygen. 

The vaccinations starting May 1 will be conducted at government health centers as well as private hospitals. Currently, People above 45 years or older are being vaccinated. Registration for vaccination of people between the age of 18 to 44 years will begin today April 28 on the Cowin portal and Arogya Setu App.  

The documentation procedure for vaccination will remain the same as it’s for the above 45 years age group. The confirmation will come on the registered mobile number on registration. The person would get an appointment date, wherein he/she have to registration receipt and photo ID to get vaccinated. 

How and where to register: 

People above 18 years of age will have to visit the Cowin app, Arogya Setu App or Cowin's website. There you enter your mobile number; an account would be created through an OTP. An Aadhaar card with a name, age, gender information required to be filled by the person while registering, vaccination center can be selected too. Moreover, the registration of senior citizens can also be done by merely dialing 1507.  

The Union Health Ministry said that more than one crore doses of the vaccine are still available with the states and union territories. Another 80 lakh doses will reach them in the next three days. The government has so far provided 15,65,26,140 doses of the vaccine to states and union territories.
