Coronavirus Lockdown: To contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus in India, the Government has announced 21 days' lockdown in the entire country and this will end on only on 14th April. However, during this lockdown, essential services will continue to be provided and e-commerce platforms have bee allowed to deliver at the doorstep of the customers. This was made to ensure continued food and grocery supply to the citizens during the lockdown period.

Big Baazaar Leads

Much before the announcement of lockdown, Big Bazaar had begun taking home delivery orders from 17th March 2020. In various cities, the Future Group e-commerce grocery portal has been serving the customer by extending the free home delivery service. Now Grofers, Bigbasket and Flipkart Supermart have also started taking orders for free home delivery in various cities.

In a recent tweet by Gurugram police, e-commerce platforms like Grofers, Big Bazaar, Bigbasket, Amazon and Flipkart, etc. have been allowed to continue their doorstep services to its customers. In fact, due to the Coronavirus lockdown in various states earlier, Big Bazaar started free home delivery to its customers in cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhuvneshwar, Guwahati, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, etc. For this free home delivery service, the company a pan India number where a customer can call or WhatsApp his or her requirements and the company will deliver that at their doorstep without any charges.

In Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, the various e-commerce companies have provided various numbers on which one can order one's requirements.

Big Bazaar tweeted citing, "In these challenging times, help us to serve you better!," adding, "We are here to serve you. In light of the recent announcement, we are receiving an unprecedented number of requests for doorstep delivery. There could be delays due to the restrictions in the movement."

All these e-commerce companies have initiated different numbers for different cities. These numbers are available on the website and twitter handle of these e-commerce companies.

Apart from this, various government authorities have also released phone numbers where one can order by calling or through WhatsApp. For example, the authorities have released a number 8377837740, applicable to Noida-Ghaziabad where one can order for the groceries, medicines, fruits, vegetables and other goods of regular and essential requirements.
