With the rains having subsided, water has receded in the Chennai airport area, ensuring no water stagnation on the runways or taxiways. Efforts are underway to clear out slush and filth from the affected areas.

In a prioritized approach, departures are being given precedence to clear stranded passengers at the airport. Presently, there are 21 aircraft grounded with approximately 1500 passengers within the terminals at Chennai Airport. Adequate food supplies are available in airport outlets to meet the needs of those present.

The havoc wreaked by Cyclone Michaung on Monday led to the temporary suspension of air services to and from Chennai's airport.
