In a major development, Modi Government took a number of decisions including approval to retail policy for petrol to be sold by private players, revival plan of the BSNL and MTNL and special fund management for these telecom company's employees taking retirement under VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme). According to the Zee Business, the government of India has decided to revive the BSNL and MTNL and for this Rs 14,000 crore fund has been allocated. Apart from this, this corpus of Rs 14,000 will be used to give VRS benefits to the employees of both BSNL and MTNL.
