In a bid to compete with Reliance Jio's Rs 1,999 plan, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new yearly tariff plan of Rs 1,999 in Chennai and Tamil Nadu areas. This new Rs 1,999  STV tariff plan is valid only for prepaid users. A user will get 2GB of data daily with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 365 days under this tariff plan. BSNL is not offering any other benefits such as PRBT or others with this plan.

This plan is introduced on a promotional basis in the Chennai and Tamil Nadu circle and is valid from June 25 to September 22, 2018. According to a Telecom Talk report, BSNL is offering 2GB of data per day, which takes the overall data benefit to 730GB, converting to a per GB price of Rs 2.73.

The same plan also offers the users unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit, but the free calling will not be applicable in Delhi and Mumbai circles as BSNL is not operating in these two circles. It also provides a user 100 SMS per day for the entire validity period of 365 days, meaning, the Rs 1999 plan will offer 36,500 SMSes for one year, the report said.

As this is a promotional plan introduced only in Chennai & Tamil Nadu circles, while other circle users have to wait a bit longer as there’s no such plan.
