Markets opened in green today, continuing from Friday's positive trajectory. Both BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty today opened up by over 1 per cent. While the BSE Sensex opened up by over 404 points at around 32,046.96 points the NSE Nifty in the opening trade was up by over 96 points at  9,348.15. Barring a few stocks in the 30-share BSE Sensex, all were trading in green when the markets opened.

Bajaj Finance, Hero Motocorp, Indusind Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank Reliance Industries and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the top gainers in the opening trade while ONGC and Nestle India were the top losers  
Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, UltraTech Cement, Infosys and Axis Bank were the top gainers on Nifty 50 in the opening Monday trade. Top losers on Nifty-50 were ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever, JSW Steel, ONGC and Bharti Infratel.

The rupee was trading at Rs  75.6375 when the markets reopened on Monday. On Friday the rupee ended at  75.7125.

On Friday, both the Sensex and Nifty ended the day in the green. The BSE Sensex was up by over 199 points, or 0.6 per cent, to close at 31,642.70 while the broader market Nifty-50 down fell 52.45 points, or 0.57 per cent, to settle at 9,251.50.

Meanwhile, Asian shares followed Wall Street higher on Monday as investors looked ahead to more countries restarting their economies, even as some reported an unwelcome pick up in new coronavirus cases. Investors seemed determined to stay optimistic and MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan firmed 1.1 per cent.

Japan`s Nikkei added 1.6 per cent and Chinese blue chips 0.7 per cent. E-Mini futures for the S&P 500 opened soft but bounced as the morning wore on and was last up 0.5 per cent. EUROSTOXX 50 futures gained 0.8 per cent and FTSE futures 0.7 per cent.
