Blackmail box office collection: This Irrfan Khan dark comedy has wowed the critics and analysts alike and has even moved the BO. The collection has risen but not by much. Blackmail collection has been Rs 11.22 cr in the opening weekend. In the face of the staggering collection by Tiger Shroff starrer Baaghi 2, this is not much, but the genre is totally different and the audience being appealed to is different too. Shroff movie has mass appeal and that too amongst the young while Blackmail will appeal to the discerning movie watchers. Ideally, they whould not be compared at all, but Baaghi 2 collection has surpassed the Rs 135 cr mark. Before jumping to any conclusions, know that Rani Mukerji's recent release Hichki, is an unqualified success having collected as much as Rs 41.15 cr and there is no reason why Blackmail cannot do well.

Blackmail has released in limited number of screens - 1861 worldwide, with 1550 screens in India and 311 abroad. This movie is a dark comedy and it has managed to win a lot of appreciation from all quarters. The filmmakers are not appealing to the masses with a thrill-a-minute ride, they are out to tickle the funny bone and impress with quality dialogue that brings satisfaction of another kind.

Blackmail is about an extra marital affair that is handled astutely by Delhi Belly director Abhinay Deo. According to reports, it is based on a true story. The story revolves around a husband who finds out his wife (a role essayed by Kirti Kulhari) is having an extra marital affair. He is bound to the office, but on the suggestion of his colleague, goes home early one day only to find his wife with her ex boyfriend. The character Irrfan plays is in debt and his idea of vendetta is to blackmail the lover. What happens next is a tale of hilarity interspersed with much dark humour and madness. You will need to be on your toes to follow the story. And no, there are no blink-and-you-will-miss-it moments as the emphasis is on the enjoyment part.
