Popular Tollywood actor Junior NTR on Sunday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Novotel Hotel at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad. The meeting took place over dinner after Shah reached the hotel from Ramoji Film City (RFC). Amit Shah was in Telangana on Sunday to address a public meeting in Munugode Assembly constituency to kickstart BJP`s campaign for by-election.

"Had a good interaction with a very talented actor and the gem of our Telugu cinema, Jr NTR in Hyderabad," Amit Shah said in a Tweet after the meeting. 

Though the purpose of the meeting was not clear, the Union Minister is believed to have requested the meeting after he liked the actor`s performance in the movie `RRR`, according to news agency ANI.

"It was a pleasure meeting you and having a delightful interaction @AmitShah ji. Thanks for the kind words," Jr NTR who played the role of Komaram Bheem, a revolutionary leader in British India, in SS Rajamouli directorial RRR, said in Tweet.

Meanwhile, the meeting has sparked speculations in political circles as it comes amid BJP`s efforts to strengthen its presence in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh where the saffron party sees a realistic chance to win Assembly elections.

On Sunday, Shah addressed a public meeting in Munugode Assembly constituency as he launched the BJP`s campaign for by-election. 

The actor hails from a political background and is grandson of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former CM and legendary actor NT Rama Rao, who was popularly known by his initials NTR. He is son of N Harikrishna, a former Andhra Pradesh minister and former Rajya Sabha member.

Junior NTR is one of the top actors of Tollywood and enjoys huge popularity. He has acted in about 100 films.
