The Goods and Services Tax (GST) council will discuss an array of recommendations, and changes would be made unanimously in the interest of the country, producers, and the consumers, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Bihar Tarkishore Prasad told Zee Business' Tarun Sharma in an exclusive interview.

Prasad called GST, a big success for the current government as India celebrates the fifth anniversary of this landmark tax regime. 

The Bihar Deputy CM also apprised about what to anticipate from this meeting.

 

On being asked, what is his expectation from the council meeting, Prasad said that the two-day meeting will be attended by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with her state counterparts.

On his thoughts on the end date of the compensation scheme and the state's agenda in the meeting, Prasad declined to comment. He however said that as Bihar's representative he will discuss on what can be done for the manufacturing sector and the consumers in the state.

The Minister also lauded GST, saying that its implementation has been really good, so far. 

Because of the GST, many things have become comfortable and inclusive, the Deputy CM said.

Notwithstanding the initial challenges faced by businesses, Prasad said that a new rule may pose challenges at the beginning. GST is a huge success for our current ruling government, Prasad claimed on being asked about his view on the eve of GST's 5th anniversary.
