Bihar Lockdown Latest News Today: The COVID-19 lockdown in Bihar has been extended till June 8, 2021. Several states of the country imposed lockdown restrictions in their respective states in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 infection due to the second wave of the pandemic.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday tweeted from his official Twitter handle where he announced the extension of the lockdown in the state till June 8, 2021. However, he also informed that certain relaxations will be given in spite of the lockdown-like curbs. Nitish Kumar informed that the lockdown-like restrictions will continue for another week with certain restrictions, moving towards more restrictions. 

 

According to a report by DNA, essential shops will be now allowed to open in the state till 2 PM and the non-essentials shops may be opened on alternate days as staggered by the District Magistrate. 

It was reported on Sunday that all officials, ministers and representatives demanded for the extension of the lockdown period. Furthermore, the District Magistrate of all the districts in Bihar has also demanded that the lockdown should be continued even after June 1, 2021.

As per the data, at present there are 18,378 active COVID-19 cases in the state of Bihar. So far, as many as 6,82,166 recoveries and 5,104 deaths have been reported in the state. 

Speaking of the COVID-19 scenario in the country, India has reported lowest daily new cases of 1.52 Lakh in 50 days as per the date released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). India's active caseload has also declined to 20,26,092. 

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, on Sunday announced that children who have lost their parents to COVID-19 will be provided Rs 1,500 per month under the Bal Sahayata Yojna till they attain the age of 18. He further added that such children will be housed in a child care centre.
