However, the biggest film to release in India this Diwali could be Thalapathy Vijay starrer Bigil. The highly-anticipated film is set to hit the theatres on the same day and is expected to be actor's biggest release till date. The advance booking for the film has started and if the response is to go by, it will have a record breaking Diwali.
Film trade analyst, critic and influencer Sumit Kadel tweeted that Bigil is seeing earth shattering advance booking which should help it get a record breaking weekend. "#Bigil limited advance booking has commenced & its EARTH SHATTERING. Film is all set to enjoy record breaking Deepavali weekend. #ThalapathyVijay #BigilBooking," Kadel's tweet from Tuesday evening read.
Meanwhile, entertainment industry tracker Ramesh Bala tweeted that tickets are almost sold out in Chennai. "#BigilBookings have opened.. Tix are mostly sold out in #Chennai City..," he tweeted.

Bigil has already fetched the second best pre-release business ever for a Tamil film with over Rs 210 crore. This includes revenues from digital, satellite, audio, and branding rights. Bigil's global pre-release theatrical business is also expected to be around Rs 140 crore which is third-highest after Rajinikanth's 2.0 and Kabali. The current record for biggest Tamil release is held by Ajith's Viswasam (Rs 134 crore lifetime total).
Interestingly, Bigil will clash with Kaithi at the box office. However, Karthi is hopeful that his film will also get decent number of screens.
Speaking on the clash with Bigil, the actor recently said that Bigil is the big movie, which will get a lion's share of screens.. but Kaithi will also get good number of screens. He added that if Petta and Viswasam can release on the same day, why not Bigil and Kaithi. Vijay's last two releases Mersal and Sarkar have made more than Rs 70 crore each at the box office.
