According to a latest order by Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, all COVID-19 hotspots in 15 districts are to be sealed till Apr 15. The big decision has been taken due to the number of coronavirus cases rising to 343 in the state. The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday said all COVID-19 hotspots in 15 districts will be sealed till April 15.

According to an official statement by UP government as per news agency PTI, "All coronavirus hotspots in 15 districts will be completely sealed till April 15 morning. Only home delivery will be allowed. These are places where a number of cases have been found."

Talking to media, Additional Chief Secretary, Information Awanish Awasthi, said, "15 districts, including Agra, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Kanpur, Varanasi, Shamli, Meerut, Bareilly and Bulandshahr, have reported a number of COVID-19 cases."

"The hotspots in these districts will be completely sealed. Only medical vehicles will be allowed and no one will be allowed to perform any other activity," he said, adding that the decision was taken on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after he held a review meeting in Lucknow.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to the novel coronavirus rose to 149 and the number of cases to 5,194 in the country on Wednesday, according to the Union Health Ministry. While the number of active COVID-19 cases is 4,643, as many as 401 people were cured and discharged and one had migrated, it said.

The total number of cases include 70 foreign nationals.

According to the ministry's data updated at 9 a.m., 25 new deaths have been reported since Tuesday.
