Bank holidays in August 2019: There are several occasions on which banks will remain closed this month. These include Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, Bakrid, Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Parsi New Year. The dates of bank holidays may vary from state to state. So, in case you are going to need more cash in the coming days then withdraw it in advance before the bank holiday. During bank holidays, people can withdraw cash only from ATMs. However, there is always a risk of cash shortage at ATMs during bank holidays.

Banks will be closed for 11 days

In August, banks will remain closed for a total of 11 days, including Saturdays and Sundays. That is, there will be only 20 working days for banks this month. August 04, 11, 18 and 25 are Sundays. So, banks will remain closed on days.

Second and fourth Saturday on 10th and 24th

August 10 and 24 is the second and fourth Saturday of the month, both of these days will also be bank holidays. On 12th August, banks across the country will be closed on the occasion of Bakrid. That is, banks will remain closed for 2 consecutive days during this period. On August 13, there will be a bank holiday in Manipur, Jammu and Srinagar. After this, banks will be closed on Independence Day on August 15, this day is also Rakshabandhan. 

Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Mumbai and Nagpur due to Parsi New Year on August 17. On August 23, banks will be closed because of Shri Krishna Janmashtami in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Lucknow and Patna.
