Bank Holidays 2019: To our frustration, many times it so happens that we go to a bank branch for some important work, only to find it closed. This is a waste of both time and money. But you can save both and avoid facing such situation if you get to know about the days that banks will have a holiday. Banks in India will be closed for around 5-6 days in August and September. At the same time, according to some states, there will be a holiday on different days.

Bank Holidays 2019 dates: Banks will remain closed on these days in August-September

The banks will remain closed on account of Rakshabandhan/Independence Day and Janmashtami on August 15th and 24th this month respectively. Banks will have their weekly holiday on Sunday, August 25. Apart from this, in the next month there will be a holiday in banks due to Vinayak Chaturthi on September 2, Muharram on 10 September and Onam on 11 September.

Talking about the states in which the banks will remain closed on August 17 on the occasion of Parsi New Year are Mumbai, Nagpur, and Ahmedabad. The banks in Assam will remain closed on August 20 due to Sri Sri Madhav Dev. While in Punjab and Haryana, the Pahila Prakash Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is celebrated with pomp, hence the banking operations will remain closed on 31 August.
