In fact, in its second week, the film has collected more than Captain Marvel. It earned Rs 8.05 crore on the 10th day, taking the overall collection to Rs 56.70 crore. "#Badla is unstoppable and unshakable... Collects more than #CaptainMarvel in Weekend 2 [in fact, #Badla leads by a big margin]... Power of solid content... [Week 2] Fri 4.05 cr, Sat 6.60 cr, Sun 8.05 cr. Total: ₹ 56.70 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 66.90 cr," Taran Adarsh, movie critic and trade analyst, tweeted.

In another tweet, Adarsh said Badla breaks the myth that films do not do well during the exam time.

"#Badla is trending superbly... Shatters the myth [within the industry] that film biz hits rock bottom during examinations and pre-Holi period... Despite new films taking away screens/shows, #Badla *Weekend 2* [₹ 18.70 cr] is slightly lower than *Weekend 1* [₹ 23.20 cr]," he tweeted.

Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Badla is a suspense thriller revolving around a young entrepreneur (played by Taapsee) who finds herself in a locked hotel room next to the body of her dead lover. She hires a lawyer (played by Amitabh) to help her solve the mystery of what really happened.

The actress is overwhelmed by the response Badla has got and recently thanked her fans. "Sitting here in Johri and reading all your messages for #Badla fills my heart with so much gratitude! You have made this film a memorable one for all of us! Keep sending more n more love. I can never have enough of it!" she said in an Instagram post.

Besides Amitabh and Taapsee, the film also features Manav Kaul and Amrita Singh among others in significant roles.

The film is expected to do well over the week as well but may face a tough time to hold on the momentum over the Holi weekend with the release of Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is based on the Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897.
