Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) Revised Rates:  The National Health Authority (NHA), the apex body for implementing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), has revised the Health Benefit Package (HBP) Master under the scheme. The revised scheme aims at healing COVID-19 cases holistically. Furthermore, there has been revised rates for around 400 procedures under health benefit package of AB PMJAY.

The Ministry of Health has posted a thread of tweets from its official Twitter handle regarding the benefits of the revised AB PMJAY scheme. One of the tweets said, "@AyushmanNHA Revises Rates for around 400 Procedures under Health Benefit Package of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. In a subsequent tweet, the Ministry of Health said, "New package aims to heal #COVID19 cases holistically."

 

Another tweet said, "The increased rates will further curb Out-of-Pocket-Expenditure of patients."

 

According to the release from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the National Health Authority (NHA) has undertaken rate revision in the following categories:

1) Radiation oncology procedures,

2) Medical Management procedures like procedure for dengue, acute febrile illness etc.,

3) Surgical package treatment for black fungus,

4) Other procedures like Right/left heart catheterization, PDA closure, Arthrodesis, Cholecystectomy, appendicectomy etc.

Under medical management procedures, rates for ICU with ventilator has been revised by 100 percent, rates for ICU without ventilator by 136 percent, rates for HDU has been revised by 22 percent while prices for routine ward has been revised by 17 percent.

The Ministry of Health feels that the revised rates will provide more options to medical care providers regarding treatment of beneficiaries. It tweeted, "Revised Rates will provide more options to medical care providers regarding treatment of beneficiaries."

 

In 2018, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY was launched with the HBP 1.0 with a total of 1,393 packages. The scheme aims to provide free and cashless healthcare services up to Rs 5 lacs per family per year to over 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families (over 53 crore beneficiaries) as per Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC)-2011 database.

At present, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY has 1669 treatment procedures out of which 1080 are surgical, 588 medical and one unspecified package. Under the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY aims to achieve the target of Universal Health Coverage and provide access to free and affordable healthcare services to the citizens residing in the remotest of the areas.
